This is the first trip we have taken to the Santa Cruz Mountains and it will be fun. We will be staying at the Best Western Plus Inn Scotts Valley. Their phone is (831) 438-6666. They do not block rooms during the high season, so you have to call ASAP to book a room. The cost is $98 plus tax w/ AAA. We will leave Kmart on Saturday at 8:30 am and stop in Paso at Hwy. 101/Hwy. 46 West at Chevron/McDonald’s. North county riders can meet us there. From there we will gas up in King City and then have BBQ lunch in Salinas. We head onto Hwy. 1 through beach town Santa Cruz and go up the coast past Ano Nuevo to San Gregorio and onto Hwy 84. We climb into the mountains on Old La Honda Rd and take a break at Alice’s Restaurant, where “you can get anything you want”. They have good pie. We then head down the mountains through the redwoods on Hwy 35 and Hwy 9 into Scott’s Valley for the night.

On Sunday morning, we will head downtown Santa Cruz and go out onto the pier for a great view of the picturesque boardwalk. On the way home we will take Hwy 1 south to Carmel Valley Rd. and do the twisties back to the 101. Lunch will be good Mexican food in King City. Back home on 101 south.
